Aizawl, Feb. 2 -- Emphasising the need for responsible energy use amid rising dependence on fossil fuels, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma today inaugurated the fortnight-long Oil and Gas Conservation Awareness Campaign, Saksham 2025-26, in Aizawl.

The campaign is being organised by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under the theme "Conserve Oil, Go Green".

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Lalduhoma said India continues to rely heavily on imported energy, with nearly 80 per cent of the country's oil and gas requirements being met through imports. He noted that India is currently the world's third-largest consumer of oil and gas, a reality that underscores the urgency of conservation and efficient energy use.
