Atlanta, Aug. 9 -- A police officer was fatally shot during an active shooter incident at Emory University in Atlanta today , authorities confirmed. The suspected gunman was also found dead at the scene.
The shooting unfolded near the campuses of Emory University and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Police were alerted to the situation around 4:50 p.m. local time and quickly responded. The suspect was located on the second floor of a nearby CVS pharmacy, where he was struck by gunfire. It remains unclear whether the suspect died from police fire or took his own life, CNN reported.
