New Delhi, March 21 -- Well-known Odissi artiste Madhumita Raut died here Saturday morning after a heart attack.
She was the daughter of Mayadhar Raut, who contributed to the revival of Odissi in the 1950s with Shastra-based knowledge.
Raut had received many national and international awards and recognition for her promotion of Odissi.
Madhumita Raut had participated in major dance festivals in India, Ireland, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Austria, Spain, Morocco, France, Portugal, Japan and the US.
