Bhubaneswar, July 17 -- The Gangadhar Meher University (GM University) today suspended Assistant Professor Dr. Gopikanta Suna of the School of Education after his arrest by the Sambalpur Mahila Police for allegedly harassing a second-year female student of the Integrated B.Ed. course.
The suspension was issued by the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, exercising powers under Section 29 of the Odisha Universities First Statute, 1990, and Rule 12 of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962. The suspension takes effect immediately.
Dr. Suna has also been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the University Registrar.
