Bhubaneshwar, Feb. 23 -- Almost one-third of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers' posts are lying vacant in the State, as per the latest statistics released by the government.
The State has a combined sanctioned strength of 584 posts of Odisha cadre in IAS, IPS and IFS postings. Of it, as many as 175 (29.96 per cent) posts are lying vacant, the government told the Assembly today.
Though theoretically, 584 officers of these all-India cadres are posted in the State, the services of only 522 officers are currently at the disposal of the State government with 62 of them being of central deputation.
