Bhubaneswar, Jan. 5 -- Odisha Vigilance officials on Monday arrested two engineers for accepting bribes.
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Harekrushna Singh and Junior Engineer (JE) Subrat Mohanty of Baripada were caught taking a partial bribe of Rs.60,000.
The two officials allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe-Rs.32,000 for AEE Singh and Rs.28,000 for JE Mohanty,from a contractor in exchange for releasing pending bills for completed works.
The contractor had executed projects worth Rs.25 lakh, but about Rs.5 lakh in bills and the security deposit were being withheld until a total bribe of Rs.1.10 lakh was paid.
