Bhubaneswar, July 17 -- The Odisha Government has decided to raise five new National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls battalions as part of the state's NCC expansion plan.

The Higher Education Department has sent a letter to the Director of NCC in Odisha, emphasising the need to enhance the reach and impact of the NCC within the state, with a special focus on increasing the participation of girl students.

As per discussions with the Director General of NCC, the total strength of cadets in the state will be increased from the existing 63,000 to 90,000.

In line with this, the state government has proposed the formation of five new NCC girls battalions as part of a comprehensive expansion strategy.
