Bhubaneswar, Feb. 11 -- The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) will be implemented jointly (co-branding) with the Mamata Yojana in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced.

Under this scheme, an additional Rs 2,000 will be given to pregnant women for the birth of a girl child, Majhi said.

He stated that the government has made this decision to promote the good health of pregnant and postpartum women and encourage the birth of girl children.

In the joint scheme, Rs 10,000 will be provided for the birth of a boy child, whereas Rs 12,000 will be given for a girl child.
