Bhubaneswar, Oct. 10 -- The Odisha government will set up a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Sambalpur, in collaboration with Oil India Limited, to strengthen waste management and promote clean energy generation.

Union Minister for Education and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan today held a telephonic discussion from New Delhi with the Chairman and Managing Director of Oil India Limited, the Sambalpur District Collector, and the Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation to review the project's progress.

The proposed facility will process 200 tonnes of organic waste daily to produce around 9 tonnes of compressed biogas, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Wealth from Waste" initiative.
