Bhubaneswar, Nov. 21 -- Odisha has set a target to cultivate potatoes on approximately 50,000 acres of land across the state during the current Rabi season. To achieve this goal, the state government plans to import certified seed potatoes from Punjab and sell them to farmers at Rs. 20 per kilogram, with a refund of Rs. 10 per kilogram after the seeds are planted.

So far, around 1 lakh quintals of high-quality seed potatoes have been distributed across various blocks in 30 districts.

The State Seed Corporation and Horticulture Directorates have been directed by Principal Secretary Dr. Arvind Kumar Padhi to ensure the complete supply of seed potatoes by the end of November.
