Bhubaneswar, Oct. 14 -- The Odisha Government has further strengthened its internal audit mechanism by creating internal audit wings in ten more departments to ensure effective utilization of public funds and enhance financial accountability.
At present, the Internal Audit, an integral component of the state's financial management system, functions in 28 administrative departments.
Acting as the watchdog of public money, it routinely reports financial irregularities, including misappropriation and embezzlement, across various sectors.
To ensure uniformity, professional oversight, and efficient monitoring of public expenditure, all internal audit personnel are placed under the administrative control of the Finance Department.
