Bhubaneswar, Dec. 30 -- The paddy procurement system in Odisha has "completely collapsed" this year, senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Farmers' Cell Convenor Prasanna Acharya said on Tuesday.
Acharya criticized the BJP government, saying its promise of Rs 800 per quintal input subsidy has turned into "a betrayal and deception" for farmers.
The BJD leader added that the government, which came to power pledging "double development," has failed utterly in managing this year's paddy procurement.
He also alleged that Odisha's concerns are being ignored at the central level.
