Bhubaneswar, Aug. 7 -- In a significant move towards promoting a pollution-free and sustainable environment, the Odisha Government is exploring the use of plastic waste in road construction across the state.

A high-level meeting chaired by Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, was held today to deliberate on this initiative.

Padhee emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable and eco-friendly practices in urban infrastructure development.

She pointed out that plastic waste, particularly from items such as bottles and carry bags,can be shredded and blended with heated bitumen and aggregates for road construction.
