Bhubaneswar, April 7 -- The Odisha State Law Commission has proposed the repeal of 288 outdated laws and the amendment of 8 key legislations to modernize the legal framework, State Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced on Tuesday.
Speaking at the first anniversary event of the Odisha Law Commission, Harichandan pointed out that, despite India's independence decades ago, several antiquated laws remain in effect, hindering progress.
However, he emphasized that contemporary laws, including the Mediation Act, Indian Penal Code, Indian Citizenship Security Act, and the Indian Evidence Act, continue to hold significant relevance in today's society.
