Bhubaneswar, Dec. 12 -- Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday inaugurated the Odisha Watermanship and Lifeguard Institute (OSWALI) at Ramachandi near Konark, marking a major step forward in strengthening coastal safety, watermanship skills, and disaster-response capabilities in the state.
The newly established training centre will provide specialized instruction to fire personnel from across India, central paramilitary forces, NDRF, police, home guards, and volunteers involved in disaster management.
According to the Chief Minister, OSWALI is the first institute in the country, apart from the Navy, to focus exclusively on such training, making it a national-level centre of excellence.
