Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1 -- The Odisha Government has announced the establishment of 'Shaktishree Empowerment Centres' across colleges and universities in the state to provide
self-safety training and promote the empowerment and holistic development of students.
Under the initiative, titled the "Shaktishree Programme," the centres will be launched in 16 universities and 730 government and aided colleges under the Higher Education Department.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had announced the programme on July 18.
To ensure the effective functioning of the Shakthishree Empowerment Centres, each institution will designate one student as a "Shaktishri Companion" and one faculty member as a "Shakthishree Coordinator."
