Bhubaneswar, Nov. 7 -- Odisha marked its participation in the 150th anniversary celebrations of "Vande Mataram," a year-long event inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined the collective singing of "Vande Mataram" at a function held at the Lok Seva Bhawan.

Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted that the song is not merely a patriotic anthem, but a symbol of patriotism, sacrifice, and bravery.

Tracing its origins to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel Anandamath, Majhi noted that "Vande Mataram" had historically stirred awareness, enthusiasm, and revolutionary spirit among Indians during the freedom struggle.
