Bhubaneswar, Dec. 17 -- Recognizing the disproportionate financial burden that marriage ceremonies place on families, the Odisha Government has taken steps to extend State-supported Rs 51,000 wedding assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eligible brides as part of the Government policy for social and economic empowerment of women.
The Department of Women & Child Development has issued a circular of Guidelines of the new State Sector Scheme Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana (MKBY) asking the District Collectors to implement the scheme expeditiously. The scheme will be operationalized in all districts of the State for the period 2025-2026 to 2029-2030, said the department officials.
