Bhubaneswar, Dec. 8 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday that 71 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been identified across the state.

Responding to a question from Congress MLA C. S. Rajen Ekka, the Chief Minister stated that a special squad, formed under the directive of the Central Government, has so far screened 2,109 suspected individuals.

Of them, 2,025 were verified as Indian citizens and subsequently released, while the identities of 13 individuals are still under examination.

Providing further details, Majhi said 71 persons were confirmed as illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, with the district-wise distribution as Bhubaneswar UPD: 24,Cuttack UPD: 15,Berhampur: 6,Koraput and Ganjam one ea...
