Bhubaneswar, Aug. 12 -- In a step towards safeguarding public health, the Odisha Government has decided to strengthen food safety activities in different urban areas by sanctioning 74 new food safety officer posts, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling said here today.

These officers are to be recruited through open advertisement and rigorous selection process under staff selection commission.

Presently, food safety officers are mostly posted in districts and they also operate in major city areas.
