Bhubaneswar, March 7 -- With the onset of summer and a rise in daytime temperatures, the Odisha government on Friday issued a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and directed its strict adherence in all urban areas to combat the heat wave situation.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krishna Chandra Mahapatra reviewed the various measures taken in urban areas to address the summer heat.

Mahapatra strictly directed that dormant tube wells should be made operational, and 24x7 control rooms should be set up to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water.
