Bhubaneswar, June 26 -- The Odisha Government today signed two concession agreements aimed at boosting maritime infrastructure in the state.

They include the upgradation of Gopalpur Port and construction of a captive jetty at Jatadhara Muhan.

The first agreement was signed between Gopalpur Ports Limited and the Odisha Government for the expansion and modernization of Gopalpur Port with a proposed investment of Rs.16,554 crore.

Following this upgradation, the port's cargo handling capacity will rise to 50 million metric tonnes (MMT), generating direct and indirect employment opportunities for approximately 5,000 youths.
