Bhubaneswar, Dec. 30 -- In a major crackdown, the Odisha Excise Department seized contraband valued at Rs 76.61 lakh and registered 212 cases in a single day as part of its ongoing Special Enforcement Drive, which began on December 20.

Officials reported on Tuesday that 63 suspects were arrested during the operations, including one case under the NDPS Act.

Enforcement teams also confiscated 8,524 bulk litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 377 bulk litres of duty-paid liquor. Additional recoveries included 78,500 bulk litres of fermented wash, 10,000 kg of gur wash, 274 kg of mahua flowers, and 70 grams of brown sugar.
