Bhubaneswar, Dec. 31 -- As part of intensified measures to maintain law and order during Christmas and the New Year celebrations, the Odisha Excise Department conducted a special enforcement drive that led to the registration of 269 cases in a single day and the seizure of illegal goods worth Rs.1.27 crore.
According to Excise Department sources, 60 people were arrested during the drive. Among the cases registered, six were booked under the NDPS Act. Authorities also seized 13 vehicles used in illegal activities.
The seized contraband included 13,618 litres of illicit country liquor, 635 litres of duty-paid liquor, and 5 litres of spurious liquor.
