Bhubaneswar, April 27 -- The State Government has launched a statewide programme to train and enhance the skill of lifeguards over the next 2-3 years, in an attempt to build a robust and scalable safety ecosystem for Odisha's coastal and inland water tourism.

In order to strengthen water-based adventure tourism safety, a comprehensive residential lifeguard training programme got underway at the Odisha State Watermanship And Lifeguard Institute (OSWALI), Konark, with the first batch commencing today, marking the beginning of an intensive capacity-building exercise.
