Bhubaneswar, Sept. 17 -- To mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Odisha government has embarked on a green initiative of planting over 75 lakh saplings in a single day, a drive which is a part of the national campaign, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi planted saplings at Ekamra College here to launch the mission, which is being seen as the largest plantation drive ever undertaken in the state.

Plantation of this nature will go a long way in protecting the environment and help make the state greener and more climate resilient, CM Majhi said.

Around 55 lakh saplings were planted across the state till 1 pm. By daybreak, the target of planting 75 lakh trees will be achieved, said an official. M...
