Bhubaneswar, Oct. 15 -- Odisha Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo has urged union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi, to enhance the state's procurement target of Custom Milled Rice (CMR) and extend its delivery period under the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024-25.

During his visit to New Delhi, Singh Deo called on the union Minister and sought his intervention in revising the CMR procurement target fixed by the Government of India at 50 lakh metric tonnes (LMT), noting that the actual resultant CMR from paddy in Odisha stands at 62.54 LMT.

He also requested an extension of the CMR delivery deadline from October 31, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
