Bhubaneswar, Sept. 20 -- The Crime Branch of Odisha Police busted an online franchise scam by arresting a B.Tech graduate from Uttar Pradesh on charges of deceiving a man from Odisha to the tune of Rs 25 lakh.
The accused, Ashish Kumar Yadav (30), a native of Varanasi in UP, duped the victim with a fake franchise offer for a dealership of Okinawa Electric Scooters.
It was a cyber-enabled franchise fraud involving impersonation and cheating, executed primarily through digital communication, said an official today.
