Bhubaneswar, Dec. 6 -- In a significant verdict under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Second Additional District Judge cum Special Judge, Bhubaneswar, today convicted two interstate ganja peddlers, sentencing them to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposing a fine of Rs. 1 lakh each.

The court further ordered that in case of non-payment of the fine, the accused would undergo an additional one-year of rigorous imprisonment.

The convicts, Anil Kumar from Uttar Pradesh and Ganesh Shah from West Delhi, were charged under Section 20(b)(ii)(C)/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, for transporting contraband ganja from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
