Kendrapara, Dec. 9 -- The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Kendrapara has sentenced seven individuals to five years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in an attempted murder case that occurred 13 years ago.

According to Additional Public Prosecutor Ramakanta Swain, the victim, Sarbeswar Jena, a carpenter from Gobindapur village under Aul police station, was running a wooden shop when he was brutally assaulted by a group of fellow villagers on November 7, 2012.

Following the attack, Swarnalata, the wife of the victim, lodged an FIR at Aul police station. The police subsequently arrested 10 persons in connection with the case and presented them before the court.
