Bhubaneswar, Jan. 4 -- A Bhubaneswar court has sentenced drug peddler Sk Hasim Bux to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh for trafficking contraband brown sugar. The judgment was delivered by the Third Additional District Judge-cum-Special Judge, Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The court further ordered that in case of default in payment of the fine, the convict would have to undergo an additional two years of rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, on October 30, 2020, the accused was apprehended by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Police near Baramunda Bus Stand, Bhubaneswar, while trading contraband brown sugar. The drugs were reportedly procured from the Jaleswar area.
