Bhubaneswar, Dec. 17 -- In a drive to curb illegal smuggling of firearms, the Odisha police have arrested 27 criminals and seized 36 firearms, 71 rounds of ammunition, and 62 lethal weapons during an operation named Operation Dharpakad.
According to sources at the state police headquarters, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, with active participation from Superintendents of Police across all districts of the state.
Police units from multiple districts carried out coordinated raids, successfully recovering illegal arms and ammunition. Alongside this, strict enforcement action was taken against motorists found driving under the influence of intoxicants.
