Bhubaneswar, Dec. 18 -- Former minister and senior Congress leader Prasad Harichandan has urged Odisha Governor Haribabu Kambhampati not to approve the bills that increase the salaries and allowances of MLAs.

The bills, passed during the winter session of the Odisha Assembly, are currently awaiting the Governor's approval.

Harichandan suggested that the Governor may return the bills to the House for reconsideration, hoping this will prompt the government to rethink the decision.

The former Odisha Congress President also announced that he would personally reject the increased allowances.
