Bhubaneswar, Jan. 2 -- The Odisha Congress on Friday strongly criticized the state government for demolishing homes of the local Adivasi community to make way for a temporary camp in the Majhipada hill area during the International Buddhist Conference at the famous Buddhist site of Udayagiri.

Former MP and President of the PCC Adivasi Cell, Yashobant Singh Laguri, told reporters that the Jajpur district administration had demolished Adivasi homes and cut down trees in Majhipada village for the conference.

He alleged that since the BJP government came to power, it has repeatedly targeted Adivasi land.
