Cuttack, Oct. 15 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today warned that a new trend has emerged under the guise of "criticism", with personal attacks or malicious propaganda against the government.

He emphasized that while legitimate criticism is vital, the line between constructive feedback and slander must never be crossed.

Speaking on the 106th anniversary of the daily newspaper Samaja, Majhi underscored the constitutional right of newspapers and media to report news fearlessly and impartially.

"Everyone must remember this principle and put it into practice," he said, adding that both the media and the government share the same ultimate goal: public welfare and societal progress.
