Bhubaneswar, June 29 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today ordered a high-level administrative inquiry, headed by the Development Commissioner, into the stampede at Saradhabali near the Gundicha Temple in Puri, which claimed the lives of three devotees and left seven others injured.
In immediate administrative action, the Puri District Collector and Superintendent of Police were transferred. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bishnu Pati and OSAP Commandant Ajay
Padhi were suspended for their roles in the incident.
Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the tragedy, the Chief Minister extended a personal apology and an apology on behalf of the state government to all Jagannath devotees.
