Bhubaneswar, March 19 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed district collectors to work in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government to combat the heatwave.

While reviewing the state's preparedness to deal with the heatwave situation, Majhi also advised district collectors to take necessary actions beyond the SOP if required.

The Chief Minister informed all district collectors and secretary-level officers of various departments that this year, the heatwave has arrived early in the state.

He emphasized the goal of zero casualties and advised officials to arrange tents and umbrellas for shade at traffic intersections in urban areas and bus stands in rural areas.
