Bhubaneswar, Feb. 6 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majahi on Thursday demanded before the 16th Finance Commission to hike the state's share in the central tax from the existing 41 percent to 50 percent.

Majhi made this demand during a meeting with the Chairman and members of the 16th Finance Commission.

The 16th Finance Commission Chairman Arvind Panagariya and members held a discussion with the Chief Minister and senior government officials on the concluding day of their four-day visit to the state.

After the meeting, the Chief Minister told newsmen that the state government has presented a demand for an allocation of Rs.12,59,148 Crore for the next five years from 2026-2031 to expedite the developmental works.
