Bhubaneswar, April 5 -- The Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved a major revision in the state's reservation policy for admissions to medical, engineering, and other higher and technical education courses, benefiting students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC).
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that reservation for ST students in technical, professional, medical, and allied courses will increase from 12 percent to 22.5 percent, while SC students will see their quota rise from 8 percent to 16.25 percent. Additionally, a new 11.25 percent reservation has been introduced for SEBC students.
