Ottawa, Aug. 12 -- The number of Canadian-resident return trips from the United States continued to drop in July, Statistics Canada said Monday.

According to the national statistical agency, the number of Canadian-resident return trips by automobile from the United States in July totalled 1.7 million, a steep decline of 36.9 percent from the same month in 2024, marking the seventh consecutive month of year-over-year declines.

Meanwhile, the number of returning Canadian-resident trips by air from the United States fell 25.8 percent in July compared with the same month a year earlier, said the agency.
