New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- Nuclear power will continue to play a key role in the global low-carbon energy mix and there will be an 82 percent increase of the world's nuclear electrical generating capacity by 2050, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said.

The IAEA, the 171-member inter-governmental forum for scientific and technical co-operation in the nuclear field, in its latest projections for energy, electricity and nuclear power trends through 2050, called for immediate and concerted action for nuclear power to reach a share of 11 percent in electricity production by 2050.
