Bhubaneswar, July 21 -- National Students' Union of India (NSUI) President Varun Choudhary today suspended Odisha NSUI State President Udit Pradhan with immediate effect, pending an internal inquiry.
The action came after Pradhan was arrested by Mancheswar police yesterday night on charges of allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl at a hotel in Bhubaneswar.
In an official statement, Choudhary reaffirmed NSUI's zero-tolerance policy toward gender-based violence and its firm commitment to justice and accountability.
"Our fight for justice for the Balasore FM College victim will continue with full resolve," he added.
