Gadchiroli, Sept. 15 -- Gadchiroli Police have arrested a Naxalite, identified as Shankar Bhima Mahaka (32), who was wanted in multiple serious crimes, including murder, arson, and IED blasts, a senior police official said. A reward of Rs 2 lakh had been announced by the state government for his capture.

Mahaka, an active member of the Bhamragad Dalam and a resident of Parayanar village, is accused of burning 19 vehicles involved in road construction in January 2022, causing losses of nearly Rs 2 crore. He is also wanted for the murder of a civilian in Pengunda village and is a suspect in a case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
