Oslo, July 8 -- The Norwegian government announced yesterday that it is set to adopt key elements of the European Union's (EU's) Deforestation Regulation as part of its efforts to combat climate change and prevent biodiversity loss.

Preserving rainforests and other tropical forests is essential for addressing global climate challenges, the government emphasised.

Under the new policy, Norway will introduce stricter requirements for products with a high risk of contributing to deforestation, including wood, coffee, cocoa, rubber, and palm oil.
