Amaravati, Oct. 15 -- Conditions are becoming favourable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the remaining parts of the country within the next 24 hours. Simultaneously, with the setting in of easterly and northeasterly winds over southern peninsular India and the south and adjoining central Bay of Bengal, the northeast monsoon rainfall activity is likely to commence over the southeast peninsular region during the same period.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Amaravati on Wednesday, the southwest monsoon has been normal over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema.
