Seoul, Jan. 4 -- Reports on Sunday suggest that North Korea fired several Ballistic Missiles towards the country's eastern waters.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said that it detected several ballistic missiles being launched from North Korea's capital region.

In a statement the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the launch occured around 7:50 a.m local time.

The statement added that the missiles were fired in a direction towards North Korea's eastern waters but shared no further details.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it has raised its surveillance and is closely exchanging information with the US and Japan on the missile launches. Japan's defense ministry also said that it spotted suspected missile launches by North Korea. There are...
