New Delhi, Dec. 5 -- The union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday said that the North East Region that had suffered decades of under-representation and underinvestment, has been recognized as a new engine for national growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
Sonowal said that the North East which comprises eight states is emerging as the 'Ashtalakshmi' of the country, and starting from railway capital connectivity, and airports to highways, power, digital networks and inland waterways, the transformation of the region has been historic, he added.
