New Delhi, Dec. 15 -- : Air quality in the national capital region, including Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, has deteriorated sharply over the past two days.
The air quality index (AQI) breached the 'severe plus' category for the first time this season, with the cities topping the nation's pollution charts. The worsening air triggered scrutiny of their pollution action plans during a review meeting held by the Environment Ministry on Monday.
To assess progress and strengthen on-ground implementation of measures to curb air pollution, a detailed review of the action plans of the two cities was conducted during a meeting chaired by Bhupinder Yadav, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
