Kolkata, Jan. 7 -- Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen was served a notice under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, triggering sharp reactions from his family and the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
A Booth Level Officer (BLO) visited 'Pratichi', the Santiniketan residence, on Wednesday morning and handed over the notice to his relative Shantabhanu Sen, as Amartya Sen is currently abroad.
According to Amartya Sen's relatives and close associates, the notice was issued "purely to harass" the globally renowned economist.
