Boston, Feb. 3 -- Reigning world champion Noah Lyles emerged victorious in the highly anticipated sprint showdown at the Boston Indoor Grand Prix on Sunday, defeating Olympic gold medallist Marcell Jacobs in the men's 60m event.
Competing in only his second race of the season, Lyles clocked a season's best of 6.52 seconds to take the title. Former world indoor champion Trayvon Bromell had the fastest start, but Lyles surged ahead at the halfway mark to claim victory.
He finished 0.05 seconds ahead of Bahamas' Terrence Jones, who secured second place, while PJ Austin completed the podium with a time of 6.60 seconds. Jacobs, making his season debut, finished fourth in 6.63 seconds.
